Felt 85X Cross bike 2015

It’s a really nice responsive bike to ride. Has done one long distance ride, in 2015, but since then nothing more than local riding. It has lugs for rear pannier rack; it is limited by no front fixings for low-rider panniers, and I don’t do cyclo-cross which is what it’s really designed for, which is why I’m selling it to buy a pure tourer. In excellent condition, apart from some very minor frame marks. In the words of Felt: “The F85x is our most affordable disc-equipped ‘cross bike. The Cyclocross FLite Custom Butted aluminum tube set with Dynaform TIG-welded construction with a shoulder-friendly top tube. The UHC Advanced fork features carbon fibre blades and a tapered 1.25” to 1.5” aluminium steerer and disc tabs. Shimano Tiagra shifters, front derailleur with a Shimano long cage rear derailleur for fuss-free shifting. Tektro Mira disc brakes make sure you stop when you need to. Any conditions, any course.” Weight 10.5Kg 57 cm frame (large). I am 186cm tall with 86cm inside leg and it’s a perfect fit. 20 gears, with rear cassette 12-28 teeth, chainset 50/34. Schwalbe Performance Pro tyres 100x30. Iodine 2 saddle. Will be sold with flat pedals fitted (see photo), not the SPDs on the bike. All accessories excluded except ‘crud-catcher’ style mudguards, bottle cages and rear pannier rack. It cost over £900 in 2015 (list price £940 but I got £39 off)

The Cannondale CAADX Tiagra matches a lightweight frame to a Shimano Tiagra groupset and 700c wheels with mini-MTB tyres. The SmartForm C2 alloy frame is lightweight and strong, being able to take some knocks off road, while also climbing steep hills easily. Cannondale’s Speed Save Micro-Suspension uses dramatically flattened chainstays and seatstays to give better traction and bump absorption, leading to greater comfort and control. The fork has an alloy steerer and carbon blades that help with vibration absorption. The steerer is tapered to balance strength and weight. Shimano’s Tiagra groupset has a 2x10 speed setup, and with the 11-32T cassette, offers plenty of gear ratios for any situation. For stopping duties, Promax mechanical disc brakes do the job with power in spades. Making sure you’ve got traction, Schwalbe Rapid Rob 35c tyres are like mini MTB tyres, delivering grip in a variety of conditions. The Cannondale CAADX Tiagra isn’t just for racing, and makes for a superb commuter during the week, so enjoy the versatility of this cyclocross bike.
